Why will you LOVE IT?
Yoga: Flexibility, strength and inner peace
Yoga is an amazing way to take care of both your body and mind, helping you become more flexible and strong by stretching your muscles, while also improving your posture and balance. Beyond the physical, yoga is a great stress reliever. Deep breathing techniques and meditation help calm the mind, reduce anxiety, and leave you feeling more centered.
Plus, regular yoga practice can enhance mental clarity, boost your mood, and even improve your sleep. It’s like a spa day for your body and mind!
Kids Yoga: Get the whole family involved
Yoga for kids is a fun and fantastic way to help them stay active while also learning how to relax and focus. It helps improve their flexibility, balance, and strength, all through playful movements that they can enjoy. It’s also a fun way to bond and teach your kids about mindfulness!
It can even boost their concentration, making it easier to focus on schoolwork or activities. Plus, yoga encourages mindfulness, helping kids become more aware of their bodies and feelings in a positive way.
The Benefits of Pilates
Pilates is great for building strength, especially in your core, and improving your posture, it focuses on controlled, mindful movements. One of the great things about Pilates is that it makes you more aware of how your body moves, which helps with balance and coordination in everyday life.
Pilates is fantastic for relieving stress with its focus on deep, calming breaths. Whether you want to strengthen your muscles, improve flexibility, or simply relax, Pilates is a great way to feel stronger and more centred.
Meet your experts
Meet Lyn Savage – Yoga Instructor
Lyn is one of our amazing yoga instructors, Lyn is passionate about helping her students feel connected to their bodies and breath through yoga. She says, “I specialise in teaching students to connect to self, to focus on breath as they move and learning to feel their bodies. Training them to let go of the past, to stop worrying about the future and instead learning to truly be in the present moment.”
Lyn didn’t discover yoga until later in life, after a corporate career in marketing. “I fell in love with yoga instantly,” she shares. “I did my Teacher Training with no intention of becoming a teacher, it was more about wanting to delve deeper into what was making me feel so good in my own practice. Teaching Yoga and introducing people to the benefits of this powerful practice is what brings me joy. I have a strong intuition that I have discovered my true purpose in life.”
One of the most common concerns Lyn hears is the belief that people aren’t flexible enough to do yoga. But she reassures her students, “That’s a myth. Yoga isn’t about being flexible; it’s a personal practice. You start where you are and develop from there. A good teacher will guide you to listen to your body, work within your limits, and modify poses as needed. Your yoga practice is yours alone.”
Lyn also offers some valuable advice for women seeking a healthier and happier life: “Happiness comes from inside. You can only truly be happy when you learn to love yourself. I am not talking about vanity love, looking in the mirror and gushing over how pretty you are, it’s about loving you, the essence of you, deep in your soul. It comes from a place of compassion, acceptance, meeting yourself where you are at from a place of love. We are our own worst critics and we put so much pressure on ourselves. This negative self-talk festers inside us and it is what we attract back to ourselves. When you can let go of that, switch it to a more positive dialogue you begin to attract more of the same into your life. You feel a shift and as you shift you move into a new space creating a happier healthier life.”
One of the challenges Lyn faces in her work is helping people find mental stillness. “Yoga is all about stilling the mind so you can connect with your soul. We spend so much time caught up in the chaos of everyday life that some people find it very difficult to step away, to find stillness and this is truly what they need. The movement of a yoga class gives you something to focus on while you breathe in unison and quieten your mind, but truly achieving this takes dedicated practice.”
Whether you’re looking to calm your mind, or just take a few moments for yourself, Lyn’s sessions are perfect for fitting into your busy life and helping you feel your best, inside and out!
Meet Jo Wall – Fitness Trainer
Joanne Wall is one of our fantastic fitness trainers at The Healthy Mummy! You might recognise Jo from our popular programs in The Healthy Mummy App! such as Wall Pilates, No Equipment Workouts, and Take 10. Jo is a qualified personal trainer, pilates instructor and barre instructor! Being a busy mum and a business owner Jo truly understands all the pressures of life but does her best to find time to spread her passion for health and fitness.
Jo has always had a love for movement. She grew up as an active child and later became a semi-professional dancer in her early adulthood. “I’ve always loved health, fitness, and movement,” she shares. However, after stepping away from dance for a “normal job,” she quickly realised that sitting behind a desk just wasn’t for her. “That’s when I knew I needed to get back to doing something active and helping others with their health and fitness goals.” After reaching out to her personal trainer, Jo took the plunge into a fitness career—and she’s never looked back!
One of the biggest challenges Jo faces is the growing trend of people searching for quick fixes rather than committing to long-term lifestyle changes. With busy schedules and less time to focus on themselves, many people struggle to prioritise their health. Jo believes that even small efforts can make a big difference. “Find just 10 minutes every day to move, stretch, and breathe,” she suggests. “A simple roll-down to plank, doing just a few of these a day will stretch out your spine and strengthen your core.”
A few years ago Jo attended a Pilates and barre retreat, and that’s when her passion for these practices really blossomed. “I decided I wanted to further my knowledge of these two areas of fitness and wanted to offer it to my clients. I saw the benefits of what it does to the mind and body and knew it was something our clients were missing.,” she explains.
Jo wants to bust the myth that Pilates is just for women. “Men need Pilates too!” she emphasises, highlighting how beneficial this practice is for everyone, regardless of gender. “Pilates is amazing because it works the whole body from arms, core, hips, legs and glutes. It will make you stronger, more toned, more flexible and give you better posture.”
Jo’s favourite quote sums it all up perfectly: “Health is a daily practice, not a 30-day diet.” This is a great reminder that lasting health comes from consistency and small daily efforts.
With her energy and passion for fitness shining through in everything she does, Jo is here to help you feel strong, healthy, and ready to take on the world!
