Wellness: Listen is here!

We are all familiar with traditional workouts such as HIIT and strength training. Most typical workouts or exercise programs are about building muscle, increasing strength, boosting endurance, keeping your heart healthy or losing weight, but when it comes to mental well-being practices like mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork you may be a little more hesitant to partake.

These practises are all about easing stress, lifting your mood, and building emotional resilience. They focus on relaxation and self-awareness, offering a more holistic approach that strengthens both your mind and body in a completely different way.

That’s why we are so excited to announce that Wellness: Listen is now live in The Healthy Mummy App!

While we absolutely LOVE the rush of an intense workout, holistic health involves so much more than just breaking a sweat.

We know that mums are BUSY and there aren’t many places we can go to fully switch off. Many of us juggle work, kids and everything else in between, so we wanted to help you squeeze some time in your routine to focus on being more present and checking in with yourself.

That’s why we’ve created Wellness: Listen, a program that complements your high-energy routines with mindful practices that nourish your mind and soul. It’s designed to help you find balance, reduce stress, and improve your mental wellbeing, all while keeping your body active and strong!

Getting Started with Meditation and Mindfulness

If you’re just beginning your journey with mindfulness, breathwork and meditation, even a few minutes a day can make a difference. Guided meditations, breathing exercises, and simple mindfulness practices, such as focusing on each sensation while eating or walking, can ease you into the routine.

These benefits are most effective when practiced consistently, and, with time, meditation and mindfulness can profoundly enhance mental clarity, emotional resilience, and physical health.

What’s new?!

Why will you LOVE IT?

The Benefits of Breathwork

Breathwork is an incredible tool for both mental and physical health! By practicing simple breathing techniques, you can calm your mind, lower stress, and boost your focus and energy. It’s also great for helping you sleep better, improving digestion, and even strengthening your lungs. Breathwork can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, and encourage deep relaxation, making it a go-to for overall wellness. With regular practice, it brings more mental clarity, emotional balance, and physical vitality into your life!

The Benefits of Meditation

Meditation is a fantastic tool for both mind and body! It’s amazing at reducing stress, helping you focus, and boosting emotional well-being by building self-awareness and resilience. Practicing regularly can lead to better sleep, make it easier to manage anxiety and depression, and even help with pain. Physically, meditation supports heart health, strengthens the immune system, and encourages healthier habits overall. Plus, it nurtures compassion and empathy, which can lead to stronger, more connected relationships. With a little daily practice, meditation can bring lasting improvements to your overall health and happiness!

Meditation for Kids: Get the whole family involved

Meditation is amazing for kids! It helps them handle big emotions, stay focused, and become more resilient. Practicing mindfulness can ease stress and anxiety, making tough situations easier to manage. Plus, it supports better sleep, boosts self-confidence, and encourages kindness and empathy. With meditation, kids can grow their self-awareness and learn to manage feelings better, which leads to improved behaviour and a stronger sense of calm and confidence.

Meet your experts

Meet Lyn Savage – Yoga Instructor and Wellness Expert

Lyn is one of our amazing Wellness experts, Lyn is passionate about helping her students feel connected to their bodies and breath. She says, “I specialise in teaching students to connect to self, to focus on breath as they move and learning to feel their bodies. Training them to let go of the past, to stop worrying about the future and instead learning to truly be in the present moment.”

Lyn didn’t discover yoga until later in life, after a corporate career in marketing. “I fell in love with yoga instantly,” she shares. “I did my Teacher Training with no intention of becoming a teacher, it was more about wanting to delve deeper into what was making me feel so good in my own practice. Teaching Yoga and introducing people to the benefits of this powerful practice is what brings me joy. I have a strong intuition that I have discovered my true purpose in life.”

Lyn offers some valuable advice for women seeking a healthier and happier life:

Happiness comes from inside. You can only truly be happy when you learn to love yourself. I am not talking about vanity love, looking in the mirror and gushing over how pretty you are, it’s about loving you, the essence of you, deep in your soul.

Lyn shares, “It comes from a place of compassion, acceptance, meeting yourself where you are at from a place of love. We are our own worst critics and we put so much pressure on ourselves. This negative self-talk festers inside us and it is what we attract back to ourselves. When you can let go of that, switch it to a more positive dialogue you begin to attract more of the same into your life, creating a happier healthier life.”

One of the challenges Lyn faces in her work is helping people find mental stillness. “We spend so much time caught up in the chaos of everyday life that some people find it very difficult to step away, to find stillness and this is truly what they need.”

Whether you’re looking to calm your mind, or just take a few moments for yourself, Lyn’s sessions are perfect for fitting into your busy life and helping you feel your best, inside and out!

Meet Bek Nutter – Naturopath, Herbalist, Sports Performance and Clinical Nutritionist, Master Breath Coach and Personal Trainer!

Bek is a phenomenal asset to The Healthy Mummy Wellness team. She brings her extensive knowledge and passion for health and fitness. In fact, Bek works with athletes, gym and sports lovers from all levels and disciplines to maximise their nutrition, recovery, energy, digestion, breath, focus and recovery.

Bek says, “I fell in love with the breath and how it could be used, not just in one way, but EVERY way. Optimising the way a person breathes influences every cell within their body; both their physical and their mental wellbeing.  It is literally the foundation of health. Often naturopathy and breathwork can be conveyed as being ‘woo woo’, which is actually far from the case. Naturopathy blends traditional wisdom with modern science to create an individualised approach to health and healing.”

One of the biggest challenges Bek faces is helping people to unlearn old ways of thinking and relearn new patterns. “We are so often flooded with different ideas and philosophies around food, movement or breath, that without questioning why these are good for us, we become attached to them. What is great for one person may not be great for another, just like a fuelling strategy for one type of sport, may not translate into fuelling strategy for a different type sport. It takes time and effort to unlearn and relearn what our body needs right now, and truly checking in with what our body needs TODAY.”

Bek shares, “The other most common health challenge I see on a daily basis is people simply over breathing. Our breath influences every cell of the body, over breathing leads to feelings of anxiety, brain fog, sleep problems, breathlessness in training and digestive complaints. Simply optimising the way someone breathes can change their life.”

Bek says that we should all listen to our body. “Your body has amazing wisdom. When you really take the time to check in with your body, it will tell you what it needs. We often get caught up in the hype of social media or the latest trends on what our body needs through food and movement, but the truth is, what our body really needs, is to simply be listened to and heard.”

I empower women to work from the BODY UP, instead of the MIND DOWN.

Bek’s favourite quote sums it all up perfectly, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t. You’re right.”

This is a great reminder that believing in yourself is one of the most powerful things you can do. It’s not about being perfect or having all the answers, it’s about trusting that you have what it takes to face challenges, learn from mistakes, and keep moving forward.

With her energy and knowledge for wellness shining through in everything she does, Bek is here to help you feel strong, healthy, and ready to take on the world!
