Member Spotlight: Let’s meet Jaimie!

We know how much the Team Body Project community loves our member collaborators. It’s a special point of difference to have everyday people on your screens and face the same challenges (and certainly don’t take yourself too seriously).

You’ve probably noticed a new friendly addition recently. But we’d like to officially introduce one of TBP’s newest member contributors, Jaimie Macklin!

Jaimie is a fantastic addition – and we are delighted to have him on board. If you haven’t worked out with him yet, you’ll no doubt see him in the gym soon, bouncing between low-impact workout options and providing real-life motivation to listen to your body’s needs.

We’re sure many of you will relate to Jaimie’s fitness reset moment. Life’s challenges had led her to neglect her own health and well-being, and she found herself lacking her usual energy and pep. He wanted to return to a good life but suffered from self-love and fear of judgment.

Starting small and focusing on one step at a time helped him rebuild his strength and stamina. These days, you can’t stop him from working out or holding a pickleball racquet! And when he has moments of insecurity, he knows he has the support of the TBP community around him.

Let’s know more about our dear Jaimie.

Jaimie’s journey with Team Body Project

How did you get involved with TBP?
Luke first introduced me to TBP. He asked me to go with him and participate in the recording. He wanted to take me out of my comfort zone! I didn’t know what I was getting myself into at the time. It was difficult at first, but the great TBP team welcomed me warmly and I settled down.

How has your TBP fitness journey changed your life?
Exercise provides great variety to any day and there’s something for whatever mood I’m in! The TBP community is totally supportive, which is a big help.

What results have you achieved since joining TBP?
Getting involved with TBP has given me great variety in my workouts and improved cardiovascular fitness. It also helped me overcome some shyness!

Can you share the challenges you encountered on your fitness journey and how you overcame them?
When I returned to my fitness journey three and a half years ago, I was in an unhealthy and unhealthy place after a challenging life event.

I felt great shame at where I had allowed myself to get to, and the fear of starting over and being judged.

I started working out less and less, then I gradually grew and was able to challenge myself, little by little.

I still have times when I feel this way. I just try to focus on myself and what I’m working on, which helps me reorganize and get the job done. I always feel better when I exercise!

What is it like to be included in the TBP workout videos?
It’s nerve-wracking and surreal! I try to ignore the camera or just think I’m chatting with someone in their living room, and we happen to be sharing a workout at that time!

What do you enjoy most about being part of the TBP community?
Shared experiences of this (sometimes) scary health and fitness journey! It can be difficult and confronting, so the social aspect is a big help. Similarly, travel can be very rewarding and the whole community celebrates each other’s success.

Do you have a favorite type of exercise or a favorite routine?
Not a favorite, as I love them all! But I’m partial to a good resistance workout. And I enjoy boxing to challenge my mental coordination!

Which TBP coach do you connect with the most and why?
I love them all and I am very grateful that the entire coaching staff has welcomed me with such warm arms. They all bring different styles, which I really enjoy.

What advice would you give someone starting their fitness journey with TBP?
Let the experiment begin. Try one of the many activities available – there is something for everyone and fitness level. Connect with the TBP community in the Facebook members group – we’re all in this together! Listen to your body. If you need to pause, do so. Drink plenty of water. Above all: Do it for YOU and have fun with it!

How do you stay motivated to maintain a consistent exercise routine?
It is an obligation that I have for myself. I am my only competition. Finally, I am a firm believer in being healthy myself. So I’m keeping that promise and moving my body for my health and well-being.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of fitness?
I like reading, hanging out with family and friends, watching true crime documentaries, listening to podcasts, catching up on TV series and relaxing when I need to. I love going to the theater (music is my favourite) and live music gigs – I respect people and their talents and the dedicated lives they have.

How do you see your role in the TBP community developing in the future?
It will be my privilege to continue to be a part of the TBP team. If even one person can relate to my story, and start their own health and fitness journey, that’s a huge win!
