As the year comes to an end, we wanted to thank those players who have been part of our first ever Player Committee.
It has been a really useful exercise in hearing your voices about the challenges and opportunities in MAN v FAT, along with getting your feedback on our own thoughts on programme development.
We are now accepting applications for the new Player Committee, with the deadline for applications being 5pm on Sunday 8th December 2024.
THE APPLICATION FORM CAN BE DOWNLOADED HERE.
Carl Norton was on our first Player Committee and he gives his thoughts on how it went here:-
Why did you get involved with the Player Committee?
I’ve been a member of MAN v FAT for a few years, and in that time I’ve been advocating for MAN v FAT on a daily basis because my values and passion of helping overweight men change their lives – aligns with MAN v FATs.
I felt it was a great way to contribute to bringing positive changes from a members perspective and help MAN v FAT identify any changes that’s required to make the programme better, whilst learning about upcoming projects and from other like minded members. I love representing Hull and wanted to network with other club members to share ideas and elevate each other’s clubs/leagues.
What did you take away from the meetings?
I found the meetings very insightful, and each one felt like a 30-second exclusive advert for a movie before it was released to the public! It was a pleasure to be able to have conversations with the other members and official MAN v FAT HQ members, It was great to be able to express my own ideas whilst receiving feedback from the other members of the committee. I learned that a lot of leagues are unique whilst also being very similar.
What was the biggest influence you felt the committee had during your time on it?
I would say input into the small details of subjects we talked about, I believe the members was fine tuning good ideas that we was presented with by HQ with added input on how to make those ideas work or enhance them.
What would you say to players considering joining the committee in 2025?
I would 100% recommend guys apply, especially if you’d like to be more involved with MAN v FAT in an official capacity, this is an opportunity to voice your thoughts and help improve the programme as it grows. HQ are open to new ideas that might mean changes.
I think it speaks volumes that MAN v FAT has players involved in this manner in comparison to other national services, it’s a great experience and a great way to network and forge new friendships with like minded people.
