While at Bear Lake Reserve, we went on a date night to a Hive To Table Dinner with Killer Bees Honey. Here’s the recap.

Every year on our family trip the grandparents take the kids for a night while the “young adults” go out to dinner. This year we stumbled upon a special Hive To Table Dinner happening while we were there at the Mill Pond Pavilion at Bear Lake Reserve. It was the perfect setting for a night out without children.

The Setting

The pavilion was next to the Mill Pond and had a mossy, fern vibe on a cool summer evening.

Welcome Drink

A Bees Knees of course! We had a cash bar for any more drinks we wanted during the dinner.

Killer Bees Honey

Since theme of the dinner was bees, there was a honey tasting, a short talk on beekeeping and honey, and of course most of the food was infused with honey.

The guests of honor were Sean and Denise from Killer Bees Honey. With apiaries located in Western North Carolina near the Pisgah National Forest, Killer Bees has won many awards for the quality and taste of their honey.

We bought some Sourwood to take home!

Charcuterie

We enjoyed a charcuterie course family style.

Salad Course

Buffett Dinner

The dinner was delicious with honey chicken, brussels sprouts, and a gratin made with carrots and sweet potatoes. Plus a berry cheesecake cup for dessert!

The Overlook

If you go to Bear Lake Reserve, be sure to head up to The Overlook for the best sunset and views around.

Coming tomorrow: the final recap post
