Here is Part III of our trip to Bear Lake Reserve. See part I here and our Hive To Table dinner here.
When I left off, we’d had a few days at the pool. Here are some of the outdoor activities we enjoyed!
Renting A Boat
On our third day we rented a pontoon for the afternoon. Thomas has a lot of boating experience, so he was our captain.
Butterfly Island
We boated over to Butterfly Island, which was discovered by Thomas and Mazen while kayaking. They kids loved swimming to shore and looking at the sparkling mica-infused sandy beach. We found a few butterflies on this magical place!
Tubing
Tubing was a huge hit all afternoon. Everyone but Birch took a turn – even Grammie + Pea!
Golf
The boys played the golf course once – they said it was super hard but the mountaintop views were incredible!
Meanwhile, we hit the pool!
Mossy Hike
One morning we took the crew on a short hike on the Bear Loop Trail. We loved the rustic bridges and all the moss.
Kath Eats Real Food
Just your usual food shots of breakfast + lunches + a few dinners!
Lake Day
On our final day, we spent almost the whole day down by the lake. We rented a paddle board that provided hours of entertainment!
Burger Night
Final Dinner Out
Got all dressed up!

The End
We had such a great time at Bear Lake Reserve that we all agreed we would love to come back! It’s a bit of a haul for us in Virginia, but if you live nearby, it’s a great spot to come with kids, especially this time of year.
